Racing at Skagit or Allison Flips Her Car...

Last weekend while my Cousin...Graduated...

And my sister had her last day of school ...

Party....

I went to Skagit Speedway for the Dirt Cup!

(Sorry guys, but it was my first opportunity to race Skagit)

The Dirt Cup was Crazy Wild, in every way possible!!!

From the fans to the drivers...We even had a team from Australia. :D

We raced both Friday and Saturday nights and on the last race of the last night Allison flipped her car. Check out the video:

Flahback Friday - Dirt Grands 2006

For Flashback Friday were going back to the Summer of 2006 ... to The Dirt Grands, at Elma WA.

The Dirt Grands are a National event held once a year for Quarter Midgets...We had drivers from, as far away as Florida!

I raced 4 different cars in 4 different classes (They were all Quarter Midgets) and I made it into the A-Main in all of them...looking back that was a pretty big deal in itself!

BUT......
I won, I won the world formal race...the cool thing is...it was the fist year they had a World Formal class....It still kind of blows me away!!

The truth is I had planned on...or should I say counted on winning the Half class (For those of you who don't know the different classes are the types of motors in the cars.)
Anyway I was moving up from the back ... passing cars one lap at a time ..when a car came down on me...hit me hard and that was the end...I was out of the race. ...... I don't think I have ever been so MAD!!!
I went back to my car trailer and sat inside, crying and hitting my elbow hard against the trailer wall.......That was all I could do...

Mom found me there and insisted I go back out and race my last race....(Which of course was the World Formal)...I refused...I just wanted to give up and be left alone....My blood was boiling inside of me and my emotions were out of control!!
Why bother...I'll just get hit again!
Well you know how Moms are...I did go out and race that last race and as they say:

"THE REST IS HISTORY!"

That is how I became the first ever

"WORLD FORMAL DIRT GRANDS WINNER"

Sunday in My City

Sundays in my city, really start out as "Saturday Night at the Race Track"!!!

This Saturday was "Fan appreciation Night"...We all parked our cars on the race track and the fans had an opportunity to come and meet us. It was lots of fun!

Then we got to race...Way More Fun!!! I won my heat race. But didn't quite hit the setup and ended up 7th in the Main Event...Don't Like That!

We get home about 1:30 Sunday morning, unload the car and go to bed.

Flashback - When I First Started Driving

Many people ask me; "When did you first start driving?" So I thought for "FLASHBACK FRIDAY" I'd show you my first car...or jeep in this case!

I'm not really sure when I first started driving, but this was the first vehicle I owned...It was a hand me down from my Cousin Dillon (Who is now a member of my pit crew)...Before then, Gus and I would ride the baby jogger down the hill backwards and call it the "Bumble Bee" but that's a different story!

Anyway, even then I had fans to wave too..."Hi Mom!"



Of course I didn't have a pit crew so I had to do all the work myself.

Even worked on the engine!
So now ya know....This is where it all began.

Friday Flashback

So here's my flashback...Kellen, Gus and I at a sleep over at my house in about 1999?

Kellen is now one of the best Guitar players I know...I mean he is AWESOME! Gus is by far the best Wake Boarder in the group and of course I Race Cars......I wonder what the next 10 years will bring?

Simplicity Photo Callenge

Simplicity has a new photo challenge: What Makes me Happy....but here's the catch ... the picture has to be taken with a cell phone....This was an easy one....THIS CAR WOULD MAKE ME VERY HAPPY!!!! I took it on my spring trip 2 yeas ago in Moab...There was a car show in town.....mostly Muscle Cars...I filled up my cell phone with tons of pictures, but this is my favorite car!!!

Going Topless at Deming

( Huh.......Did someone say topless?!?)

No, NO, NO....Not that kind...We took the wings off our cars...off the TOP of our cars (the fronts too)! But it did get your attention - didn't it?

It was a great night, the track was hooked up and fast and Dad had my car set up just right!!! I even qualified OK (I have mention that qualifying is not my strong point)! There is just something about racing with out the wings that I like!!!

Anyway I started 5th in my heat race and passed two cars in the first two laps...I was working on passing the 3rd place car, when he slowed down and went sideways....the track was too slick for me to stop, so I hit him and spun out.......This put me in the back of the pack for the restart. But...I did mention my car was set up just right....I took a chance and decided to try the outside groove...It worked.....It was awesome, I was passing cars two at a time and made it all the way up to second place...In just 6 laps...It was a lot of fun!!!!

I was looking forward to the A-Main when the rains hit and yet again they cancelled the races.

But, ya know what? It was still a good night!!!

Rained Out

Well, so far I have been rained out of my last 2 races...Once at Grays Harbor and last Friday at Deming.
But let me give you an update on the 2 races I did finish. Both were at Deming in the 600, where I am now 5th in points.......I qualified awful.....and did not do well in my heat races either....This put me in the back of the pack in the B-Main.......On the up side, I LOVE to pass...There is just something fun about lining up and the swooping in for that clean pass!!!! Cool thing is Deming give passing points!! (Bad thing is they also give points on qualifying). Anyway in the first race I won the B-main and transferred to the A- Main where I went from 16th to 6th.

On the 2nd night I went from 12 to 5th in the B-Main which gave me a transfer spot. In the A-main I started dead last (17th - do to my crummy qualifying) but made it up to 13th place.... Love those passing points.....Anyway it's great to be back on the dirt!!!

Headed for Deming Speedway

It's been a long winter but spring is finally here and so is RACE SEASON...(We're just going to ignore the fact that the weather man is suggesting snow tonight)!! I can't wait to get behind the wheel again....To smell the menthenol (gas), slide threw the mud and eat Deming Burgers!!

Gone Fishing

Over spring break our family went to Rufus Woods for a little R&R.....Dad caught the first and last fish.
But Autumn and I caught the biggest...Mom, she caught a cold.

The Test and Tune for the midget was cancelled due to VERY BAD weather....So Carson and I decided to pick up chicks instead......

Spring Riding

Yesterday was the first day of spring, it was warm and sunny and perfect for some spring riding!!

...even my kid sister joined me!

I admit my hair was a little bit long in the last picture...but thats NOT a ponytail...It's my pet chipmunk Twitch....All my moms friends...put your glasses on!!! :)

And as for our shop at home his buddy hides seeds in everthing...I can't leave my riding boots in the garage for a day with out finding seeds in them the next time I slip them on.

I also wanted to make sure that Kerri Sample of "Rainmaker Collision and Restoration" knows how much I appericated the use of his shop last Sunday!! Thanks a Ton!!

And while I am saying my Thank yous....A Ginormous THANKS TO DON BILLINGS for letting me drive his Midget this year!!!!!!!!!!!

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 2010 RACING SEASON!

Racing...It's finally getting close!!

We spent all last Sunday in Kerri Sample's shop (which by the way is nothing like ours..It's big and clean and there are no chipmunks...but that another story) putting my new seat in Don's Midget ...

I also got to hang out with Justin, who is one of my favorite Quarter midget drivers! You can watch him race this season at the I-5 Quarter Midget track in Elma. He'll be racing Senior Honda (He took the Championship last year) and Light 160. He also got Driver of Year.....Go Justin.
